Slovakia is mountainous. Most Slovak people have special feelings for the mountains. Tatra Mountains is one of the national symbols of Slovakia. As the Chinese saying goes: The kind loves mountains, the wise loves seas. The Slovaks are the correct expression of this sentence, people are kind, abide by the law, protect and cherish nature and live in harmony with it.

Slovakian internationally well-known documentary director, Pavol Barabaš focuses on the real life of people in extreme conditions. His films show how human treats the earth, exude love and respect for nature, great spiritual and moral conscience. His documentary (Freedom under Load- Sloboda pod nakladom) in 2006 tells the story of the most senior generation of mountain porters in High Tatras. Slovakia is the only last country in Europe that currently still uses human labor to move living goods to mountain huts, which cannot be reached by vehicles. The load of each trip is about 80-100 kilograms. Every day is the same regardless of weather conditions. The porters don’t take the burden on the back as heavy pressure. On the contrary, they enjoy the solitude with the mountains and nature, and experience the power and magic of the mountains more strongly than ordinary people. They are closely connected to the blood circulation of the mountains through the imaginary umbilical cord. In order to shoot the documentary film Pavol Barabaš stayed in the mountains for nine seasons to personally experience the load and actual life of mountain porters. He said: When facing nature, there is only humility, and it’s necessary to feel the simple happiness of ordinary humans. The life of the mountain porter made him realize that "the goods that people put on their shoulders must be duly escorted to the end", which is the main meaning of this film to convey to audiences around the world. This documentary won more than ten awards at the International Film Festivals, and won the Jury Prize at the Mendi Film Festival in Bilbao, Spain. The jury commented: "This is a movie about faith and devotion to the mountains; Tranquility and harmony are exactly what is urgently needed in the world today. "
